Project Description:

The main aim of the project is fundamental research of the relationship among

  1. the preparation of the selected solid acid-base catalysts,
  2. their structure and
  3. the activity/selectivity of catalysts in the model reactions, i.e. esterification and transestrification.

The project will systematically focus on

  1. the supported alkaline-earth metals and alkali metals,
  2. hydrotalcite and
  3. heteropolyacids, i.e. attractive heterogeneous acid-base catalysts.

The results will contribute to the prediction of its catalytic behaviour and advance synthesis. To achieve this, the following partial objectives of the project are set:

  1. the preparation of catalysts,
  2. the detailed characterization of structure and composition of catalysts,
  3. the determination of activity/selectivity of synthesized catalysts,
  4. the determination of relationship between the catalyst structure/composition and its activity,
  5. the determination of catalyst stability and deactivation and
  6. the determination of relationship between the catalyst structure/composition and its stability.
